The Last Guy

The Last Guy is a puzzle video game developed by Japan Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2008. It was released as a downloadable game for PlayStation 3, with a demo version titled The Last Guy Premium Japan first released in Japan on July 31, 2008, followed by the full version globally on August 28, 2008. The objective of the game is to rescue civilians from monster-infested cities and guide them to the escape zone.

The game is played from a top-down perspective, with the player controlling the titular character, The Last Guy, who must find and lead survivors to safety while avoiding giant monsters, which are referred to as "zombies" in the game. The player can dash, manipulate the line of civilians following them, and use thermal imaging to locate survivors. Set in real-world cities across North America, Europe, and Asia, the game features leaderboards for each city and a global leaderboard, with bonus points for rescuing VIPs and unlocking additional stages.

In May 2009, the game was updated to support trophies and allowed for downloadable content to be purchased through the PlayStation Network. The game used high-resolution satellite imagery from Google Earth to render the real-world cities.

The Last Guy received positive reviews. IGN rated it 9 out of 10, calling it "challenging, funny, and fresh," while Gaming Target also praised its clever gameplay, stating it was "worth the $10." The game's unique concept and engaging gameplay were frequently highlighted in reviews.
