I Made a Game with Zombies in It! | 2009
The game features one to four protagonists from an aerial perspective. Players use two analog sticks to fight off hordes of zombies while collecting power-ups, with the objective being to survive until the game's background song ends. The game is timed by a 13-minute and 37-second rock-style background song sung by Silva, with lyrics about the game itself. This song is also available for download on the official Ska Studios website and was released through the Rock Band Network a year after the game's release. Silva said that the Xbox Live Indie Games price point inspired him to create "a $1 experience that delivers." He initially expected the game to fail, thinking it was "too stupid," but it went on to be successful.
The game ranked as the most popular Xbox Live Indie Game of 2009, based on connectivity. It sold 160,000 copies by January 2010, making it the best-selling Xbox Live Indie Game by over 40,000 units. By March 2010, it had sold 200,000 copies, and by August 2010, sales reached 308,000, earning Silva approximately $215,000 after Microsoft's 30 percent revenue fee. The game became a favorite among critics, noted for its quirky humor and theme song. IGN ranked it the best indie game of 2009.
