Burn, Zombie Burn!

Burn, Zombie Burn! is a shooter video game for PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Windows, developed by Doublesix and published by P2 Games for the PC version, launched via the Steam platform on August 12, 2010.

In Burn Zombie Burn!, players control a character named Bruce, fighting against an endless horde of various zombies. The goal is to kill as many zombies as possible before dying, while achieving certain score thresholds to unlock more of the game. The game is designed as a top-down arena-based shooter, divided into six levels. The core mechanic, as suggested by the title, involves setting zombies on fire. To score high, players must set zombies on fire, and each burning zombie increases the score multiplier. Burning zombies are more dangerous as they move faster and deal more damage if they get too close. They also drop power-ups that increase power, speed, and range, while normal zombies drop health and ammo packs.

Each level also features a unique event triggered by the “Big Red Button,” which activates after achieving three consecutive weapon combos. These events typically help the player, but later in the game, they can also harm them.

The game has four modes: Freeplay (where the goal is to survive as long as possible), Defense (players must protect Bruce's girlfriend, Daisy), Timed (all levels have a time limit), and Challenges (with various rules). However, unlocking levels within each mode must be done by the player. There is also a tutorial called Zombie Academy, which teaches the basics of setting zombies on fire.

On July 30, 2009, Doublesix released a Burn Zombie Burn! themed space in PlayStation 3's online community service, PlayStation Home. The space is called "Burn Zombie Burn Lobby" in Asia and "DoubleSix Lobby" in Europe and North America, featuring a mini-game called "The Maze," where users must navigate through a zombie-infested maze within two minutes. Successful players are rewarded with a T-shirt for their Home avatar. The space also features a shop where users can buy Burn Zombie Burn-themed T-shirts and outfits. It is available in PlayStation Home in Asia, Europe, and North America.

On July 31, 2009, Doublesix announced an upcoming downloadable content (DLC) pack titled Burn Zombie Burn! In Space, which included two new levels set on an alien spaceship. In February 2010, it was announced that the DLC was awaiting approval from Sony, as was a patch with a new game mode. The DLC was released on June 7, 2010, in North America via the PlayStation Network. A second DLC pack called Burn Zombie Burn! Zombie Sushi was announced but was delayed multiple times and was never released.

The game received positive reviews, with an aggregate score of 76 on Metacritic. IGN gave the game 8.3/10, commenting, "Where Burn Zombie Burn! really works best is its simple but flexible set of rules: burn stuff, but don't let the fires get out of control." They added, "there's a ton of stuff to check out for a downloadable game, but be prepared to spend days if not weeks trying to unlock it all." GameSpot gave the game 7/10, stating, "It's short on variety, but an innovative risk-vs.-reward scoring system makes Burn Zombie Burn an intriguing entry in the top-down shooter genre."
